West Ham United are reportedly trying to sign talented Almeria midfielder Samu Costa, after he rejected a move to Wolves.

That’s according to a report from Estadio Deportivo who claim that Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to bring the 22-year-old to the London Stadium this month.

Central midfield is an are at the London Stadium where David Moyes definitely needs to improve before the January transfer window slams shut.

Declan Rice appears to be on his way out of the club in the summer, whilst an upgrade on Tomas Soucek is required as a matter of urgency. And it seems as though Moyes has one man in particular in mind…

West Ham eyeing Samu Costa swoop

Estadio Deportivo reckon that the Hammers could swoop in and try to sign the Almeria ace after he rejected a move to Wolves.

He has really caught the eye in La Liga this season with some dominating performances in the middle of the park for his side.

I think that the Portugal under-21 international would actually be a very useful addition for the Hammers. He is a defensive midfielder by trade but can also operate in a more orthodox central midfield role.

In 14 La Liga outings this season, Costa has averaged 1.8 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 1.5 clearances per game. During those appearances, the Almeria star has made 35.4 passes on average per game and has recorded a completion rate of 81.7% (Who Scored).

He is a genuine talent who has a really high ceiling and would finally represent a proper ‘Red Bull model’ signing by Moyes.

Samu Costa has technical ability, energy and stamina in abundance, and he would take West Ham to a whole new level in my opinion.

£22 million for the Almeria ace sounds like great value to me.
