West Ham United tried to sign Sander Berge from Sheffield United as deadline day approached its conclusion yesterday.

That’s according to a report from Norwegian outlet TV2 who claim that the Hammers were eyeing up a move for Berge late on last night.

Meanwhile the likes of Harrison Ashby and Manny Longelo left for pastures new.

I really feel like Moyes needed to bring one or two players in, to give us any chance of making a push for the top half of the table.

Interestingly, Sander Berge was someone who I wrote about yesterday right here on Hammers News, amidst links with a deadline day move to Newcastle United.

TV2 reckon that the Norway international was on the Hammers’ radar when the clock was ticking down on deadline day yesterday.

The bottom line is that West Ham didn’t sign Berge. If the owners really had wanted to make it happen, they would have tried to get it done much earlier in the month.

I really do hope that I’m wrong, but I strongly feel that West Ham United’s lack of activity on transfer deadline day will come back to haunt us.

Only time will tell whether that proves to be correct or not.
