West Ham manager David Moyes could still sign free agent striker Andre Ayew after shock report emerged yesterday.

It was claimed that the Hammers wanted to sign the 33-year-old forward on deadline day (90 Min).

Here’s the thing though, Ayew is a free agent having been released by Qatari side Al Sadd, so there are no time constraints for West Ham.

Deadline day came and went yesterday without Moyes signing a single player to strengthen the senior team.

That really was baffling, considering how short we are in so many areas. One of those areas is up front, with Danny Ings and Gianluca Scamacca currently both out injured.

So could Moyes still strengthen his attacking ranks, even with the January transfer window now closed?

The fact that the experienced Ghanaian is a free agent means that he is still available to sign, if any club wishes to obtain his signature.

Now, I firmly believe that Moyes shouldn’t be going anywhere near the 33-year-old. However, the fact is that West Ham can still sign him even thought the transfer window has slammed shut.

And given our current injury problems in attack it would not surprise me one little bit if the Hammers took the plunge on Ayew.

The Ghana international joined the Hammers in the summer of 2016 from Swansea City for £20.5 million (BBC).

Injuries wreaked havoc with his West Ham career, however, and he was swiftly shipped back to the Swans in January 2018 for around £20 million (BBC).

Ayew bagged 12 goals and five assists in 50 outings for the Hammers, and has chalked up 153 goals and 58 assists in 527 career appearances (Transfermarkt).

The Ghanaian is a decent forward, and we probably didn’t see the best of him during his time at the London Stadium.

In spite of that though, David Moyes shouldn’t even be thinking about bringing the Ghanian back to East London, even though he could still sign him if he wanted to.
