West Ham reportedly made an approach to sign Andrey Santos, but it appears as though he’s now set to join Chelsea.
That’s according to a report from UOL who claim that the Hammers made contact with Vasco da Gama about signing the 18-yer-old midfielder when he burst onto the scene with the Brazilian side.
Unfortunately for us though, it seems like Santos is set to join Chelsea in January for around £17 million (Fabrizio Romano).
Missing out on Santos will be a massive blow for West Ham. The Brazilian teenager is a sensational talent, and has been described as an ‘incredible’ talent by his teammate Nene (90 Min).
Meanwhile, The Daily Mail label him as a ‘wonderkid’.
It’s a real shame that the Hammers boss David Moyes didn’t move sooner for the Brazilian starlet…
West Ham miss out on Andrey Santos
The 18-yer-old is all set to join Chelsea after signing a five-year deal to link up with Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge (Si).
Santos is a central midfielder by trade, but he can also operate as a centre-back.
He possesses exceptional technical ability, yet he has all of the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League as well.
Santos is a tenacious tackler and has impressive physical strength for someone so young.
In my view, the young Brazilian will go on to become a truly elite central midfielder in the Premier League with Chelsea.
Unfortunately for West Ham, it seems as though we left it far too late to make a concrete move to sign Andrey Santos.
And it’s yet another top young talent that we have missed out on.
