Reports overnight claim West Ham United are in formal talks for feisty Argentine central midfielder Santiago Ascacibar.
West Ham completed a £12m move for Hammers-supporting defensive central midfielder Flynn Downes yesterday.
And speculation has abound that David Moyes is looking to sign another central midfielder.
That should come as no surprise given West Ham said goodbye to both Mark Noble and Alex Kral this summer, which left Moyes with only Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek as his senior central midfielders.
There have also been intense rumours that Soucek could be sold.
No sooner had Downes put pen to paper to sign for his boyhood club than the Hammers were already being linked with another CM move.

The 25-year-old was linked with a move to the London Stadium back in 2019.
According to Argentinian publication TNT Sports at the time, West Ham looked at Ascacibar after an impressive spell at Stuttgart.
He has since moved to Hertha Berlin and now Argentine football journalist Adriano Savalli claims West Ham have initiated talks to bring him to the club for around £10m.
“Exclusive: West Ham have started formal talks for Santiago Ascacíbar,” Savalli said on Twitter.
“(They) are expected to submit a written offer shortly to begin negotiations.
“Also interested (in Ascacíbar) are teams from Spain and Italy
“Hertha Berlin, in principle, intends (to ask for) €12m (£10m).”
If true, this could be another deal West Ham conclude quickly.
Because just a couple of weeks ago, the feisty midfielder – who loves a tackle as fans will see in YouTube clips – told TyC Sports he wants to leave Hertha.
“I really want a change of scenery,” Ascacibar announced in an interview with Argentine media outlet TyC Sports – as also reported by BuliNews.
“I don’t know where, but I’m sure I want to change.”
Ascacibar has been capped three times by Argentina and has developed a reputation as a natural leader.
