West Ham United have allegedly made an approach to sign Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly on loan for the season.
That’s according to a report from The Daily Mail (print edition August 12th, page 81) who claim that Manchester United would prefer to sell Bailly permanently rather than loan him out to the Hammers.

West Ham boss David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

Nayef Aguerd suffered an untimely ankle injury three weeks ago and Issa Diop has just left to join Fulham.
And it seems as though Moyes is moving to address his deficiencies in the heart of defence…
West Ham make Eric Bailly loan move
The Daily Mail (print edition August 12th, page 81) claim that the Hammers have made a loan enquiry for the Ivory Coast international.
Manchester United would reportedly prefer to sell him outright though.
Whether either West Ham or the Red Devils are prepared to budge remains to be seen. We think that Bailly would be a very good addition for the Hammers.
Man United signed the 28-year-old from Villarreal in 2016 for around £30m (BBC)
Despite struggling for Manchester United at times, he’s still a very good player and has all of the attributes needed to succeed at the very highest level.

The Sun recently described Bailly as a ‘brilliant’ defender and on his day, he is certainly one of the very best around.
The 28-year-old stands at 6ft 2in tall, is strong in the air and in the challenge and is very quick along the ground.
One word of warning is that he lacks concentration sometimes but who knows, perhaps that’s because he needs a fresh start under a new manager.
£6.7 million for a player with Bailly’s quality seems like a fantastic bargain.
And if West Ham sign Eric Bailly for anything like that this summer, we think it will have to go down as a very good value for money deal for the East London outfit.
