West Ham United have allegedly had a €16 million (£13.4 million) bid for Attila Szalai rejected by Fenerbahce.
That’s according to Turkish football journalist Ertan Suzgun who claims that the Super Lig side are holding out for closer to €20 million (£17 million) plus a sell-on fee from the Hammers for the 24-year-old.
West Ham just need to get this one done as a matter of urgency. Just pay Fenerbahce the £17 million that they want for the Hungary international. He’d be more than worth that amount.

Nayef Aguerd and Craig Dawson are both out injured whilst Angelo Ogbonna is nowhere near match fit. Meanwhile, Issa Diop has already left for pastures new.
And getting the signing of a new centre-back over the line before we play Brighton on Sunday will be absolutely vital for David Moyes. It seems as though he’s trying his best to do exactly that…
West Ham have Attila Szalai bid rejected
The Hammers have had a £13.4 million bid for the 24-year-old knocked back by Fenerbahce according to Turkish football journalist Ertan Suzgun.
Hopefully West Ham go back in with an improved offer.
We think that Szalai would be a superb addition for the club.
He really does have absolutely everything that the Hammers need at the moment.
The physically imposing Fenerbahce centre-back seems to be tailor made for the Premier League.
Standing at 6ft 4in tall, the 24-capped Hungary international is an imposing figure. He is incredibly strong, athletic and dominant in the air.

In 32 Super Lig games for Fenerbahce last season, Szalai bagged one goal and two assists. During those appearances, he averaged 1.1 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and two clearances per game (Who Scored).
He made 43.8 passes per match and recorded a completion rate of 81% (Who Scored).
West Ham would be wise to get a deal for Attila Szalai wrapped up asap.
He would certainly provide very strong competition and cover for the current crop of West Ham centre-backs.
