West Ham could be set to battle it out with Sevilla for a third time this season, this time for the signature of Ben Brereton Diaz.

That’s according to a report from Estadio Deportivo who claims that Hammers boss David Moyes wants to bring the 22-year-old Blackburn ace to the London Stadium.

Sevilla want him as well though so we won’t have things all our own way in the race for the Chile international’s services.

West Ham desperately need to sign a top-class striker this summer. Moyes tried and failed to do that in the January transfer window.

And now we are left with 31-year-old Michail Antonio as our only option through the middle.

West Ham have been linked with at least 40 strikers since we sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax in January 2021. Ben Brereton Diaz is a name that keeps cropping up and it seems as though the links will not go away…

West Ham to battle Sevilla for Brereton Diaz

Estadio Deportivo reckon that the Hammers want to sign the Blackburn star but old foes Sevilla could pip us to his signature.

West Ham have already faced battles with Sevilla this season in the Europa League. We won the tie over two legs against the Spaniards but will we be able to beat them again, this time in the transfer market?

If we can, Brereton Diaz would be a very smart addition for the Hammers.

The 22-year-old has really impressed since the start of the 2021/22 campaign and he seems to have reached another level entirely for Blackburn.

The 22-year-old has bagged 20 goals in 30 Championship games (Transfermarkt).

Brereton Diaz is a hard working striker and standing at 6ft 1in tall, he’s big and strong as well.

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray recently raved about the Chile international, as quoted by Lancs Live:

“Brereton with the ball at his feet is an extraordinary talent. He’s a wonderful footballer who can dribble with both feet, take people out of the game.”

After struggling during the early years of his career, it seems as though he has received a real confidence boost from being included in the Chile squad.

The Sun reckons that he will be available for around £25 million this summer. That sounds like decent value to us. And we would be more than happy if Moyes manages to beat Sevilla to the Blackburn ace’s signature.
