West Ham United are eyeing up a move to sign a Bayer Leverkusen centre-back in the summer transfer window, as a replacement for Craig Dawson.

That’s according to 90 Min who claim that the Hammers could face competition from Liverpool and Newcastle for 26-year-old defender Jonathan Tah.

Signing a top-class centre-back in the summer will now be one of the main priorities for Moyes in my opinion.

And it seems as though the Scot has his eye on someone in particular…

According to a report from 90 Min, the Hammers are ready to battle Liverpool and Newcastle for the signing of Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah.

He is out of contract with Leverkusen in the summer of 2025 and the 26-year-old could now be set to swap Germany for England.

I think that Tah would be an exceptional signing for the Hammers.

The 16-capped Germany international is certainly of the very highest quality.

In 19 Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen this season, Tah has averaged one tackle, one interception and 3.8 clearances per game. He also won an average of 1.5 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).

Standing at 6ft 5in tall, the German is physically imposing and is an absolute monster in the air.

However, he’s very good with the ball at his feet as well. Tah has averaged 47.3 passes per game and has recorded an impressive completion rate of 89.3% (Who Scored).

He’s valued at around £25 million by Bayer Leverkusen (The Sun), with only just over two years remaining on his current deal with the Bundesliga side.

And for that kind of money, West Ham can’t afford to miss out on signing Jonathan Tah in the summer transfer window.
