West Ham United are reportedly eyeing a summer transfer window swoop for Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba.

That’s according to a report from Calciomercato who claim that the 26-capped Burkina Faso international is a target for the Hammers ahead of the summer window.

West Ham boss David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

A key item on Moyes’s agenda will be to bring in a young, powerful and aerially commanding centre-back – someone who is capable of adapting to the rigorous demands of Premier League football.

Angelo Ogbonna will be 34 before the end of this month whilst Craig Dawson has just turned 32.

Bringing in a future replacement for one of those two players will be key for the Hammers. And it seems as though that’s exactly what Moyes plans on doing…

West Ham eyeing summer swoop for Edmond Tapsoba

Calciomercato suggest that the 23-year-old centre-back is very much a target for the Hammers this summer.

And what a signing he could end up being for the East London outfit.

In 21 Bundesliga outings this season, Tapsoba has averaged 1.6 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, three clearances and two successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

The 23-year-old has made 65.1 passes on average per match and has recorded a completion rate of 88.7% (Who Scored).

Standing at 6ft 4in tall, Tapsoba cuts an imposing figure and he is very strong in the air. He’s quick along the ground as well and is a very good reader of the game.

West Ham will have to pay £44 million if we want to sign Edmond Tapsoba this summer though (The Express). That’s an awful lot of money to be paying for someone who is totally unproven in the Premier League.

If the Hammers really want to compete with the big boys though, that’s the kind of money we need to be spending on players.

The Bayer Leverkusen ace has been described as a powerhouse by Ghana Soccer Net.

And in my opinion, Tapsoba would be a very good addition for West Ham this summer.
