West Ham United are reportedly leading the race to sign Sasa Lukic in January, and the Torino ace wants to join us.

That’s according to Tuttosport who claim that the Hammers lead Roma and Napoli in the race for the 26-year-old’s signature due to the fact that we can use Nikola Vlasic as a bargaining chip.

Vlasic left the London Stadium to link up with Torino on loan in the summer, and the Italian outfit have an option to buy the Croatian permanently – one that they will undoubtedly take up given Vlasic’s fine form in Turin.

So should West Ham offer the Italian side a discount on the £13 million option they have on Vlasic, it will put us in a strong position for Sasa Lukic’s signature, that’s for sure.

Moyes will undoubtedly be a very busy man in January, with numerous new additions required at the London Stadium.

And it seems as though one man in particular is on the Scot’s radar…

West Ham leading race to sign Sasa Lukic in January

Tuttosport claim that the Hammers are out in front of Serie A pair Roma and Napoli in the race for Lukic’s signature this winter.

That’s allegedly because we can use Torino’s interest in Vlasic to our advantage.

And I think that the Torino man could actually be a very smart addition to Moyes’s ranks at the London Stadium, especially for just £13 million.

The 35-capped Serbia international is an orthodox central midfielder by trade, but he can also operate in a more advanced role, or even as a deep-lying midfielder.

He started all of his country’s games at the World Cup out in Qatar this winter, and really impressed with his technical ability when in possession of the football.

Lukic has scored two goals in 12 Serie A appearances for Torino so far this season (Who Scored).

During those appearances, the 26-year-old has averaged 1.4 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 0.8 clearances per game. The Serbian has made 43.7 passes on average per match and has recorded an impressive completion rate of 88.7% (Who Scored).

Lukic is a very solid operator, and it could be argued that David Moyes really needs to strengthen his options in the middle of the park.

Vlasic leaving the London Stadium at the end of the season is almost set in stone.

And if Torino don’t want to pay the full £13 million for the Croatian, Lukic heading in the opposite direction seems to be an ideal solution for everyone.

West Ham are apparently leading the race to sign Sasa Lukic this winter and I think it would be a good move from Moyes and the club. An upgrade on Tomas Soucek is required asap, and the Serbian ace would represent exactly that.
