Report: West Ham are afraid that Newcastle will make Armando Broja statement

West Ham United fear that Newcastle could steal Chelsea striker Armando Broja from right under their nose this summer.

That’s according to a report from The Mirror who claim that the Hammers are worried that Newcastle will be able to offer more money to Broja as well as a larger fee to Chelsea for his services.

It has been widely reported that David Moyes desperately wants to bring the 20-year-old Chelsea striker to the London Stadium this summer.

The problem for West Ham is that Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe wants to bring him to St James’ Park as well (The Mirror).

The Magpies new-found wealth will undoubtedly be a major issue for the Hammers this summer. It seems like the Tyneside outfit are moving in for every single transfer target we have.

The saving grace is that West Ham have actually won the race for two of the players that Newcastle wanted – Nayef Aguerd and Alphonse Areola.

It seems as though the Magpies are ready to challenge us once again for yet another of Moyes’s targets…

The Mirror reckon that the powers that be at the London Stadium are really concerned about the Magpies potentially winning the race to sign he Chelsea striker.

And losing out to Newcastle in the race to sign Broja really would be a bitter pill to swallow for West Ham.

The Chelsea ace is one of the most talented young forwards on the planet at the moment and he could genuinely take us to a new level entirely next season.

Broja spent last season on loan from Chelsea at Southampton and he massively impressed.

The Albanian has proven that he is a striker who is well capable of succeeding at the very highest level.

The Chelsea owned ace is strong, quick and is a really, really good finisher. Broja bagged nine goals and one assist in 36 games for Southampton last term (Transfermarkt).

It is his all around game that has been the most impressive thing about him though. The way in which he holds up the ball with his back to goal and brings others into play has been truly magnificent to watch.

He has been described as an ‘exceptional’ striker by The Athletic.

Broja seems to be ideally suited to West Ham and considering the way in which he stretches the opposition with tireless runs into the channels, it’s easy to see why Moyes wants to sign him.

Di Marzio recently claimed that the fee needed to sign the 20-year-old Chelsea striker could be around £25-30 million. That sounds like great value to us.

Whether West Ham are able to beat Newcastle to the signing of Broja in the summer transfer window remains to be seen though.
