Report shares how much David Moyes will demand from Napoli for West Ham ace Issa Diop

Napoli are allegedly keen to sign West Ham United centre-back Issa Diop in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Area Napoli who claim that Napoli view Hammers defender Diop as a ‘good market opportunity’.

West Ham manager David Moyes is trying to strengthen his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

The Hammers are believed to be closing in on a deal to sign Nayef Aguerd from Rennes (The Evening Standard and The Daily Mail).

If the East London outfit do sign the Morocco international, then Diop will fall down the centre-back pecking order at West Ham even more.

And it seems as though the 25-year-old could be surplus to requirements at the London Stadium…

Moyes could sell West Ham defender Diop

Area Napoli reckon that the Hammers could sell the 25-year-old defender to Napoli this summer for around €15 million (£12.5 million).

We truly believe that selling Diop will 100% be the right decision in the summer transfer window.

After arriving at the London Stadium in the summer of 2018 for around £25 million (The Express), Diop was one of the very best central defenders in the Premier League during his debut season.

The 25-year-old, who earns around £63k-a-week according to Football League FC, experienced a poor 2020/21 campaign though and was nowhere near his best this season either.

The 25-year-old really hasn’t been great for West Ham at all over the past two years in all fairness, and if Moyes brings in Aguerd and sells Diop, it would be very good business indeed for the Hammers.

The Morocco international is on another level entirely to the West Ham centre-back.

Moyes selling Diop this summer would be the smart move for West Ham as a club.
