A new report has delivered a hugely exciting update on a West Ham move to sign one of the world’s best James Ward-Prowse.
As fans know only too well the clock is ticking down on the moment Declan Rice leaves West Ham this summer.
As sad a prospect as that is for the Hammers it is the reality of football as the skipper goes in search of the Champions League football and top trophies West Ham simply cannot deliver.
With the side edging ever closer to securing Premier League safety, work is already well underway at West Ham to line up Rice’s replacement.
One of those at the top of West Ham’s list is James Ward-Prowse.
Ahead of the recent win over Southampton, David Moyes effectively admitted he looked at signing Rice’s England teammate last summer.

Reports from the likes of Sky Sports and talkSPORT have suggested West Ham will try again for Southampton’s captain and star man Ward-Prowse in the next window.
Ward-Prowse would make an absolutely superb addition for West Ham, where he would play every single game and be in with a shout of potentially skippering the side too.
It is the logical step for the player and the Hammers.
Not only is he a lovely player in the middle of the park.

But Ward-Prowse could also be a long term penalty taker in the Mark Noble mould and bring that all important goal threat from free-kicks and set piece delivery.
Man City boss Pep Guardiola has labelled Ward-Prowse the best free-kick specialist in world football.
Saints look doomed to the drop after another defeat at the weekend. And they face a wounded Arsenal away on Friday night.
And their impending demotion is great news for West Ham according to sources at talkSPORT.

Their report delivers a hugely exciting update on a West Ham move to sign one of the world’s best Ward-Prowse.
“James Ward-Prowse has been told he can leave Southampton if they go down,” talkSPORT reported last night.
“Ward-Prowse has previously attracted interest from Tottenham and West Ham and also has admirers at Newcastle talkSPORT sources understand.”
At West Ham Ward-Prowse would be a guaranteed starter and – as mentioned earlier – potential captain material.
And realistically he could easily add 15-20 goals to the side from free-kicks and set-piece assists.
That would certainly help take the edge of losing our beloved Rice.
