West Ham are eyeing a move to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Coventry City for around £20 million in the summer.

According to a report from The Mirror, West Ham are chasing the signature of Viktor Gyokeres ahead of the summer transfer window.

Hammers boss David Moyes needs to bolster his attacking ranks at the London Stadium at the end of this season, if he is still in charge of course.

Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca face uncertain futures, whilst Danny Ings has so far failed to impress.

Gyokeres, 24, is someone who West Ham have been tracking for a while.

And it seems as though the Hammers owners are ready to step up their interest in bringing the Coventry striker to the London Stadium…

West Ham eyeing summer swoop for Viktor Gyokeres

The Hammers want to sign the Sweden international and will need to pay £20 million for his services according to the Mirror.

Gyokeres is a willing runner, and is superb at stretching the opposition’s backline by making tireless runs into the channels – something that David Moyes obviously absolutely loves – just look at his dependance on Michail Antonio.

The Coventry forward is equally as strong with both feet and is very good at playing with his back to goal, holding up the ball and turning defenders. He has been labelled as a ‘lethal’ striker by TEAMtalk.

The 24-year-old has bagged 22 goals and 10 assists in 47 appearances for the Sky Blues this season (Transfermarkt).

He has 43 goals and 15 assists in 113 career games for Coventry under his belt (Transfermarkt).

Viktor Gyokeres is a Michail Antonio regen, but a better version in my opinion, and would be a fabulous signing for West Ham this summer, especially for just £20 million.

However, if Coventry gain promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs, it will be interesting to see whether they’re actually able to hold on to their star man, rather than be forced into selling him.
