West Ham United are set to push ahead with our interest in signing Konstantinos Mavropanos in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to a report from Bild who claim that the Hammers have ‘registered their interest’ in signing the Arsenal owned centre-back this summer.
Presumably that means that we have made an enquiry for the Greek ace.
Stuttgart have an option to sign the 24-year-old from Arsenal for just €3.5 million (£3 million) this summer and they will allegedly then be prepared to sell him on to West Ham for €20 million (£17 million).
David Moyes will be desperate to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
Angelo Ogbonna is still out with an ACL injury and will be 34 before the end of the month. Meanwhile, Craig Dawson has just turned 32 and the jury is still very much out on Issa Diop.
Signing a top-class centre-half with youth on their side will be vitally important for the Hammers this summer. And moyes seemingly has a specific plan in mind to do just that…
West Ham told to pay bargain fee for Mavropanos
Bild reckon that the Hammers have been quoted £17 million for the 24-year-old Arsenal star.
That sounds like superb value and this is a deal that we should be absolutely all over.
Mavropanos has been a real hit with Stuttgart. In 30 Bundesliga outings, he has scored four goals and averaged 1.9 tackles, 2.2 interceptions and 5.3 clearances per match. The Greek ace has also won an average of 2.9 aerial duels per game (Who Scored).
Considering his fine form in the Bundesliga, there is a very good chance that he will be snapped up on a permanent deal by the Germans.
They are seemingly prepared to then sell him on for a profit though.
West Ham paying just £17 million for Mavropanos seems like an absolute no-brainer.
The Arsenal owned ace is a top-class defender and possesses all of the physical attributes needed to go on and succeed in the Premier League.
He’s at the right age as well now to really make a name for himself back in England. The Bundesliga’s official website has described the Arsenal loanee as an ‘excellent’ defender as well as a ‘gladiator’.
And if West Ham sign Mavropanos for just £17 million, it could end up being an unbelievable deal for the East London outfit.
