West Ham United allegedly now want to sign Marseille forward Bamba Dieng in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from MediaFootMarseille who claim that the Hammers could face competition from Newcastle for the 22-year-old’s signature this summer.

It is alleged that Marseille will demand around €12 million (£9.8 million) for Dieng this summer.

West Ham have been linked with a move to sign the 11-capped Senegal international since January.

West Ham’s need for a forward is not as urgent now after David Moyes brought Gianluca Scamacca to the London Stadium earlier this week.

The addition of another versatile forward certainly wouldn’t go a miss though. And it seems as though Moyes is seemingly trying to bring one more attacker into the club…

West Ham eyeing Bamba Dieng swoop

MediaFootMarseille claim that the Hammers are battling it out with Newcastle to sign the Marseille forward this summer.

Dieng is a really exciting young talent and has so much potential.

He has been described as the new Didier Drogba by Get Football News France.

The Senegalese forward bagged seven goals and three assists in 25 Ligue 1 games for Marseille last season (Transfermarkt).

Dieng possesses blistering pace, has fantastic movement and is a nightmare for opposing defenders. He is a pretty good finisher as well.

The Marseille starlet is far from the finished article. There are a lot of improvements that he needs to make in his game. And some might say that there are no guarantees of him succeeding in the Premier League.

We believe that £9.8 million is a very fair price for the Hammers to pay though.

Bamba Dieng can play anywhere along the frontline and would provide strong cover and competition for all of the West Ham attackers.

He certainly has the kind of pace that would make him very effective in the Hammers’ current setup.

We think that this is a signing that could end up being really good value for money for West Ham.
