West Ham United have reportedly made a £13 million bid for Terem Moffi – one that was swiftly rejected by Lorient.

That’s according to a report from French publication L’Equipe who claim that Lorient are asking for £26 million from the Hammers for the 23-year-old striker.

West Ham boss David Moyes has been linked with a move to bring Moffi to the London Stadium for the past two weeks now.

With Michail Antonio having regressed badly over the past year or so, getting a new striker through the door before the end of this month will be vitally important for Moyes.

Lorient striker Moffi would be the perfect summer signing for West Ham. It seems as though the 23-year-old might just be out of our reach though, unfortunately…

West Ham have bid rejected for striker

The Hammers have had a £13 million bid knocked back for Terem Moffi by Lorient, according to L’Equipe. And we will allegedly have to double that offer in order to get a deal for the Nigeria international over the line.

If Moyes really wants to get his side firing, paying that kind of money for the Lorient striker should be a no-brainer.

Described by Nigerian newspaper This Day as a ‘jewel’, Moffi has absolutely everything that West Ham currently lack in the final third.

He is absolutely rapid and is strong as an ox. He is generally a nuisance for opposing defenders and would offer a completely different option to Gianluca Scamacca through the middle, what with his power and pace.

He’s been on fire in Ligue 1 this season, with 12 goals in 18 games for Lorient to his name (Transfermarkt).

The Nigerian is a truly top tier talent, and would add so much potency to the Hammers’ attacking play.

I just hope that the owners are ready to pay the Ligue 1 side what they want for Moffi. After the West Ham rejected bid for the striker though, it seems to be unlikely that he will arrive at the London Stadium this winter.
