Young attacker Sonny Perkins is allegedly expected to leave West Ham United when his contract expires next Thursday.

That’s according to a report from The Athletic who claim that it is highly likely that the 18-year-old will leave the London Stadium in eight day’s time, with Leeds and Tottenham chasing his signature.

Losing Perkins to one of our rivals, especially Tottenham, would be a really tough blow to stomach.

The Guardian recently claimed that West Ham are refusing to meet the youngster’s wage demands.

It seems as though Perkins is just asking for too much money for someone who, let’s face it, is still totally unproven on the very highest stage.

And the talented teenager could be set for a London Stadium exit very soon indeed…

West Ham attacker to leave West Ham

The Athletic claim that Perkins will almost certainly leave the London Stadium in just eight day’s time.

If the forward doesn’t commit to a new deal at the London Stadium, he will be free to move where he wants.

Perkins was sensational for the West Ham U-23s this season. He bagged 14 goals and two assists in 28 games for the youth team (Transfermarkt).

The 18-year-old made three senior appearances for the Hammers as well.

David Moyes gave him a big chance in the Premier League once and Europe twice. So the Scot clearly rates Perkins.

Rising East recently described the attacker as a ‘remarkable’ young talent.

The thing is though, West Ham are right not to be held to ransom by the 18-year-old. The same thing happened with Reece Oxford.

Perkins hasn’t done anything to prove himself at the highest level of the game yet, despite his undoubted prowess and precocious talent.

It will be a shame if the forward doesn’t sign a new deal at the London Stadium. And losing Sonny Perkins to the likes of Tottenham or Leeds would be a real gutter for West Ham.

If Perkins is demanding too much money though, we will be fine if the attacker does leave West Ham this summer. He quite simply hasn’t proven himself yet in my view.
