And now it seems as though the La Liga outfit are confident that Hammers boss David Moyes will do exactly that in the summer transfer window.
The Scot certainly needs to sign a new central defender before the new season starts, and the Italy international could well be the man for the job at the London Stadium…
Real Betis convinced that West Ham will sign Luiz Felipe imminently
The Spaniards think that it’s only a matter of time before the Hammers lodge an official bid for the 26-year-old defender.
In 23 La Liga outings for Betis last season, Felipe averaged 1.5 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 4.3 clearances and 1.3 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

He is incredibly solid in the air and tenacious in the tackle. He plays with real aggression and passion, and he would undoubtedly be a big fan favourite at the London Stadium.
However, he isn’t the best with the ball at his feet, and his injury record makes for rather worrying reading.
Luiz Felipe certainly wouldn’t be a poor signing for West Ham, but I just think that there are far better options out there for us, like Taylor Harwood-Bellis or Jonathan Tah.
Having said that, if Moyes brings the Italy international to the London Stadium, he’ll have my full support.
