‘Pick us over Crystal Palace’ West Ham assistant boss Kevin Nolan tells prime January transfer target Kalvin Phillips.
West Ham and Crystal Palace are battling to sign Kalvin Phillips on loan in the January transfer window.
With his place in the England squad for this summer’s Euros very much at risk, Phillips is looking to move and both the Hammers and the Eagles are pushing to bring him to London according to the likes of Sky Sports and talkSPORT.
CBS journalist Ben Jacobs reported that West Ham are the ‘ones to watch’ when it comes to landing Phillips.
And Hammers News sources dealt Crystal Palace a major blow when it was revealed Phillips has a ‘soft spot’ for West Ham boss David Moyes.

‘Pick us over Palace’ Nolan tells Phillips
Managers rarely talk about transfer interest in players at other clubs. Especially those of the old school such as Moyes and Palace’s Roy Hodgson.
But they took contrasting approaches this week with the Hammers manager refusing to comment when asked about Phillips.
Meanwhile Hodgson fully admitted Crystal Palace’s interest and said he hopes to sign the Man City outcast.
Moyes said he does not feel it is right to comment on players at other clubs. But it seems one of his assistants didn’t get the memo.

Hammers interest confirmed
Speaking on BBC 5 Live Sport overnight, Nolan admitted West Ham are trying to sign Phillips.
And he believes the Hammers would be a better bet for the England man than the Eagles.
“Who isn’t a massive admirer of Kalvin Phillips?” Nolan said.
“England international, top player, brilliant at Leeds – one of the main reasons they stayed in the league – one of the reasons Man City paid the money they did.
“So look we’re (West Ham) massive admirers of Kalvin and he’d be a great one to add to our squad. I think he’d only be a great acquisition. That’s all I can say and I’m hoping if he’s going to go anywhere from Man CIty, I would rather it be us than Crystal Palace.”
