Hammers boss David Moyes wanted to bring the giant 6ft 7in striker to the London Stadium in the summer (Voetbal Belgie and All Nigeria Soccer).
The West Ham owners failed to meet Genk’s £22 million valuation of Onuachu, however (Own Goal Nigeria).
The transfer window closed and West Ham were left with Michail Antonio as our only recognised striker.
The Nigeria international is a prolific forward and would have been a very useful addition for the Hammers.

But could the door now be open for the East London outfit to swoop in again for the 27-year-old?

The Genk ace has urged any club interested in acquiring his services to make another bid in January.
Onuachu told Voetbalkrant:

“I can do nothing more to decorate a transfer,” said Onuachu. “The football world is not always fair. I am still convinced that I could have made a nice transfer. In addition, many clubs are currently not having an easy time financially due to the pandemic. Have new agreements been made in the meantime? Genk will cooperate if an offer is made that all parties agree with.”
Signing Onuachu for around £22 million should be a no-brainer for the Hammers.
The Genk hitman was on fire last season racking up 29 goals in 33 League games. He has a fairly impressive career record as well with 135 goals in 277 appearances to his name (Transfermarkt).
He has 11 goals in 14 games to his name this season as well.
£22 million for the Nigerian would be outstanding business for West Ham.
