New West Ham United assistant coach Paco Jemez admits he was looking forward to working with Guido Rodriguez in the Premier League before the midfielder returned to Spain with Valencia.
West Ham appointed the former Rayo Vallecano coach as Nuno Espirito Santo’s number two earlier this month.
Two Premier League victories later, beating Sunderland and Tottenham in the space of a week, it appears that Paco Jemez’s impact is being felt by Ollie Scarles and co already. The West Ham United left-back believes Jemez is a key factor as to why Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jean-Clair Todibo have been so impressive in recent outings.

Despite his reputation as a free-wheeling, attack-obsessed coach, Scarles says that the Premier League’s most porous backline is benefitting from his expertise.
One player who will not be working alongside Jemez at Rush Green, though, is Guido Rodriguez.
Paco Jemez wanted Guido Rodriguez to stay at West Ham United
Argentina international Rodriguez bid farewell to the Hammers on Tuesday. He secured a return to La Liga with sleeping giants Valencia.
“Great guy, great professional, great player. I’m very happy for Guido,” Jemez told Radio Marca following the departure of the ex-Real Betis enforcer. “I would have liked him to succeed here, to have played here with us.
“But I think he is a signing that Valencia are going to be very grateful for.”
Rodriguez, who started only two Premier League games this season, follows Niclas Fullkrug and Luis Guilherme out the door. Lucas Paqueta is set to re-join Flamengo too as Nuno continues his January overhaul.
