Ollie Scarles is the latest voice at West Ham United to hail the appointment of Paco Jemez as a coach.
Earlier this month, Jemez was appointed as a first-team coach at West Ham United.
The former Rayo Vallecano manager has helped turn things around.
Nuno has quite the DILEMMA on his hands… 🤔
Who are you picking to start against Chelsea?
Indeed, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have won both Premier League games since his appointment, including putting in their best performance of the season against Sunderland.
Quite how much one attributes the recent results to Jemez’s arrival is a personal choice. Clearly, Nuno is an experienced manager himself, so the work he has done shouldn’t be overlooked.
Jemez is working alongside Nuno at West Ham, and Scarles has been full of praise.
Ollie Scarles praises Paco Jemez at West Ham
Scarles, who won a penalty against Sunderland on Saturday which Jarrod Bowen later converted, was speaking to West Ham’s official website.
The 20-year-old hailed the impact Jemez has had on the side.
Jemez is a highly rated coach after spells at Vallecano and Las Palmas during an 18-year managerial career that has spanned across Spanish football and a brief spell in Iran.
“He’s brilliant,” said Scarles. “He’s a defensive coach, and he’s been really good at strengthening our back four.
“He’s a really good guy to be around, and he brings a good vibe to the team. All the coaches we have are vocal, and that’s good for the whole group.”
How many points would West Ham have taken from their last two games if Lucas Paqueta had been playing? 🤔
Paco Jemez faces biggest challenge yet at West Ham United
It’s interesting to hear that Jemez is helping work on the defence, given his reputation prior to his arrival at West Ham was built on his ability to coach impressive attacking football.
Improving this West Ham defence will be a huge task for any coach.
They have defended better in recent games, but a second clean sheet of the campaign remains elusive.

Unless things improve, whether that’s through coaching or new signings, West Ham will be relegated.
There are certainly signs of life at West Ham, no doubt helped by Jemez’s arrival. The challenge, however, will be to make significant progress over the next few games.
Jemez and Nuno have to find the right formula. They’ve made a decent start, but nothing has really been proven just yet.
Jemez rejected other clubs to join West Ham and, if he helps keep them up, it will have been an inspired decision from all parties.
