West Ham look to be closing in on the signing of Gil Vicente striker Pablo in the January transfer window.

Bringing in a new centre forward was the priority for Nuno Espirito Santo this winter, and he seems to have had his wishes fulfilled.

The Portuguese wanted West Ham to sign Pablo and the club have moved quickly in order to reach the final stages of the deal.

Pablo medical scheduled for 1 January

According to ExWHUEmployee, the 21-year-old striker has already flown into London to undergo his medical.

West Ham are hoping that he completes his medical on Thursday, 1 January, before he can be officially registered with the Premier League.

Once that is done, he would be in contention to take on Wolves on Saturday at Molineux, in what is a must-win game for both sides.

If Pablo is registered by midday on Friday, then he will be eligible to take on the 20th-placed club in the Premier League.

This gives the Hammers less than 24 hours to finalise everything and make sure that they can officially announce his signing.

It’s understood that the London Stadium outfit will be paying £17.45million to the Portuguese side for the young forward.

Will Pablo be in the West Ham starting eleven vs Wolves?

Nuno has been sending signals to the board by not fielding a recognised number nine in most of the recent games.

With Niclas Fullkrug set to join AC Milan and Callum Wilson being the only other recognised senior striker, the Hammers do not have too many options to lead the line.

Jarrod Bowen has been asked to play centrally, but his strengths are out wide and he prefers coming in from the right wing.

Nuno would certainly be tempted to start Pablo, but given how little time he will have to train, it is very likely that he comes off the bench for his debut against Wolves.

Whether Wilson is given 50-60 minutes or Bowen gets the nod again remains to be seen, but it is highly unlikely the Portuguese striker will make his full West Ham debut this weekend.
