Stade de Reims Hugo Ekitike should be West Ham United’s number one transfer target in the summer transfer window.

Hammers boss David Moyes, and the owners of course, should go all out to bring the talented 19-year-old to the London Stadium before the start of next season.

West Ham’s need for another striker has been well-documented since we sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax in 2021 and inexplicably decided not to replace him.

Haller still hasn’t been replaced, leaving Michail Antonio as the only recognised senior striker at the club. In fact, Antonio isn’t a recognised striker…he’s a converted winger.

The situation would be laughable if it wasn’t to damaging to our hopes of finishing inside the top four.

The 31-year-old has been brilliant for the East London outfit this season with nine goals and eight assists in 26 games to his name (Transfermarkt).

The problem is that when Antonio is out of form or isn’t completely fit, Moyes has no other options. The Scot absolutely must change that in the summer.

West Ham need to go all out for Hugo Ekitike in the summer transfer window

Signing a top-class striker should be David Moyes’s absolute number one priority before the start of next season. The Scot has to bring in a top-class goalscorer who possesses blistering pace. Ideally, the Hammers’ next striker signing will be under the age of 24 as well.

And bearing that criteria in mind, Ekitike is the absolute perfect summer signing for the Irons.

The Ligue 1 outfit allegedly want around £34 million for the talented teenager (News In 24).

West Ham need to pay Reims what he’s worth, get the deal done and move on.

What an incredible signing he would be for the Hammers. The 19-year-old is really is an unbelievably talented young player.

Ekitike possesses blistering pace and has quite incredible movement. He is a defender’s nightmare. The Reims ace is a very good finisher as well.

In 22 games so far this season, the exciting teenager has bagged 10 goals and four assists (Transfermarkt).

Ekitike is very similar to a young Thierry Henry. If he goes on to enjoy even half the success that the former Arsenal and Barcelona man did then he will be a seriously good signing for whichever club wins the race for his signature.

Reims manager Oscar Garcia really described Ekitike as a ‘very special’ player (Ligue 1’s official website).

West Ham will undoubtedly face stiff competition for Ekitike’s signature in the summer. That’s why we need to act swiftly and get a deal wrapped up to sign him.

The Reims ace has everything needed to make it at the very highest level. £34 million for his services will undoubtedly end up looking like absolute peanuts in a few year’s time.

And if the Hammers bring the young Frenchman to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window, it would be a real statement signing and proof that the owners have real ambition and genuine intent to take this great club forward.
