West Ham are keen to bring Bournemouth ace Lloyd Kelly to the London Stadium before the January transfer window slams shut according to a report from the Daily Mail.
And we think that the 23-year-old would be an exceptional addition for the Hammers this month.
West Ham boss David Moyes will be desperate to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium before the transfer window slams shut.
The January transfer window will be a vitally important one for the Hammers. We are currently flying high in fifth spot in the Premier League table and are through to the knockout stages of the Europa League.
In order to maintain our more than impressive start to the campaign though, Moyes absolutely must strengthen over the course of the next couple of weeks.
Angelo Ogbonna, Kurt Zouma and Aaron Cresswell are all out with long-term injuries at the moment. That has left us incredibly light in the centre-back and left-back departments.
There are plenty of options out there for the East London outfit this month. We have already been linked with at least 10 centre-backs over there past couple of months. We believe that one of the better ones is currently plying his trade in England’s second tier, however.
Moyes could kill two birds with one stone by signing him as well.
West Ham signing Lloyd Kelly would be great business
Bournemouth’s central defender Lloyd Kelly has really impressed in the Championship so far this season and we think he would be a very useful addition for West Ham.
Kelly joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in the summer of 2019 for a fee that could eventually rise to around £20 million (Daily Mail).
In 20 Championship outings for Bournemouth so far this season, Kelly has averaged one interception and 4.9 clearances per game. He’s also won an average of 3.1 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).
The 23-year-old has made 74 passes per game on average with an impressive completion rate of 83.8% (Who Scored).
Standing at just 5ft 10in tall, Kelly is far from tall for a centre-back. He does have a very good leap though…the amount of aerial duels he’s won in the Championship this season proves that.
And crucially…he is left-footed.
The Bournemouth ace can operate at left-back as well which could prove to be a huge asset for West Ham, considering how light on cover we are in that particular department.
Kelly has the potential to go on and become a truly elite Premier League centre-back. He won’t come cheap though. Bournemouth will undoubtedly demand a big fee for the talented young defender.
We believe that it will be well worth spending big on the 23-year-old though. He could end up being a real star at West Ham.
And the sooner that David Moyes brings the Cherries ace through the door at the London Stadium the better.
