One of football’s top sources has now confirmed West Ham’s concrete interest in signing £30m rated striker Dominic Solanke in January.

With the January transfer window now looming large on the horizon it is inevitable that the rumour mill grinds into gear for West Ham.

Especially with the clear necessity to sign a striker – something most West Ham fans felt the club needed to do in the summer.

Injuries to top scorer Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio have crystallised signing a new forward as a top priority within West Ham according to reports.

And if that didn’t do it, then the fact AFCON is likely to rob David Moyes of Mohammed Kudus, Said Benrahma and Maxwel Cornet for five or six games between January and February should.

Earlier this week we reported on claims that West Ham were readying bids for two £30m rated strikers ahead of the winter window in the shape of Dominic Solanke and Hugo Ekitike.

Talk of a Hammers move for Bournemouth’s in-form Solanke has abound since the summer.

Now one of football’s top sources has confirmed West Ham’s concrete interest in signing £30m rated striker Solanke in January.

Fabrizio Romano is considered among the top ITKs in football. And he has confirmed West Ham are indeed very much interested in signing Solanke when writing in his Daily Briefing column.

“Following rumours that Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke could replace Danny Ings at the London Stadium, I can say that Solanke is appreciated by the London club (West Ham),” Romano said.

“He’s one of the players they like, but no decision has been made yet as it is still early.

“I have limited information about the future of Ings.”

Yesterday a West Ham insider with close links to David Sullivan and Karren Brady confirmed the club are looking to sign a striker in January.

And it was explained how the Hammers plan to do that despite being on UEFA’s FFP watchlist.

It is reassuring to hear Romano confirming West Ham are being proactive ahead of the window opening in six weeks.

There can be absolutely no excuses for not signing a striker in January.

Solanke, although inconsistent during his career so far, has started to look every inch a top Premier League striker. So West Ham could get him at just the right time.
