Could coveted Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi rescue West Ham’s reported David Moyes succession plan after big twist?
Many West Ham fans have been calling for the club to appoint a more modern, progressive manager if and when David Moyes departs.
And one man often used as an example of the kind of coach the Hammers should be looking to is Brighton’s enigmatic Italian Roberto De Zerbi.
Of course the horse has long since bolted on De Zerbi and his talents for a club like West Ham with some of Europe’s leading clubs said to be interested in luring him away from Brighton.
But he could inadvertently end up having a big say on West Ham’s future plans.

Coveted Brighton boss De Zerbi to the rescue for West Ham’s reported Moyes succession plan after a big twist?
Yesterday on Hammers News we reported on a major claim emerging from within the Brazil national team which looked like seriously bad news for West Ham.
Speculation continues to swirl as to whether Moyes will remain with the Hammers beyond this season.
Reports, though, have claimed Moyes is unlikely to see his contract extended with technical director Tim Steidten already assessing replacements.
It was claimed by a source inside West Ham last month that Steidten’s appointment could see the German help West Ham replace Moyes with Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso next summer.

West Ham have been heavily linked with Alonso since the German’s arrival at West Ham – as reported here on Hammers News.
Alonso has also been linked with his former club Real Madrid, though, should Carlo Ancelotti – who, like Moyes at West Ham, is out of contract in the summer – not sign a new deal.
So claims out of Brazil that Carlo Ancelotti has already agreed to become Brazil boss came as a bitter blow to West Ham’s hopes of bringing Alonso to east London.
There could be great news for the Hammers’ alleged Moyes succession plan and it involves that man De Zerbi.

Because breaking news from Italian outlet TMW claims Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has decided the Seagulls boss is the man he wants to replace Ancelotti.
And he has already opened talks with De Zerbi’s entourage to get him signed up for next season.
That would leave the door open for West Ham to go after Alonso, who was appointed at Leverkusen by Steidten.
We previously reported that West Ham will have to pay a £13m get out clause to bring the man Steidten to the London Stadium.
But that is a drop in the ocean compared to transfer fees for even the most average player nowadays. So West Ham should not baulk at spending that to appoint a top young coach.
Alonso showed West Ham what might be if the Moyes succession plan involving the Spaniard is true.
His side played the Hammers off the park in a thumping pre-season win.
