Early reports linking Soungoutou Magassa with a move away from West Ham United may have gotten a little ahead of themselves.
Because not only has Magassa indicated that he has unfinished business at the London Stadium, the club frequently credited with an interest have now moved to distance themselves from the speculation.
It is no secret that Eintracht Frankfurt wanted to bring the France Under-21 ace to Germany before West Ham United struck a £14 million deal with Monaco in August 2025.
The jury is OUT on Sountougou Magassa! What have you made of him so far?
What does he need to improve to nail down a starting spot?
Sport BILD then reported in the immediate aftermath of West Ham’s relegation that Frankfurt were weighing up another approach.
Claims that have since been dismissed by local publication Frankfurter Rundschau.
Eintracht Frankfurt won’t be moving for West Ham United’s Soungoutou Magassa
According to FR, ‘the connection to Magassa has gone cold’ at the Commerzbank Arena.
That is despite the fact that Frankfurt recently confirmed the appointment of Adi Hutter, the Austrian tactician who gave Magassa his break at Monaco.

In conjunction with sporting director Markus Krosche, Frankfurt are instead prioritising defensive reinforcements. Star left-back Nathaniel Brown is joining Bayern Munich while Belgian centre-half Arthur Theate is a target for Nottingham Forest.
Magassa, as a result, barely even gets a mention in FR’s extensive run-down.
Well, that is until the final sentence; ‘Eintracht Frankfurt currently have no great interest in the defensive midfielder’.
Magassa hopes to silence his London Stadium critics
Because he crossed the Channel in the last few days of the summer transfer window, Magassa found himself playing catch up in his early weeks under Graham Potter and Nuno Espirito Santo. The hope is that Magassa can show West Ham what he is capable of with a full pre-season under his belt.

‘The next one will be better!’, the 22-year-old wrote in a bullish social media post following the conclusion of the 2026/27 campaign. A not-so-subtle indication that Magassa was left unsatisfied by his performances last season and feels he has a point to prove in his follow-up campaign.
Hammers News reported on Saturday lunchtime that Manchester United are closing in on Mateus Fernandes. Michael Carrick’s Red Devils appear destined to fight off competition from Arsenal, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Tomas Soucek is undecided on his West Ham future, meanwhile. A move to Italy appeals to the long-serving giant. Young Mohamadou Kante is attracting interest from France and Italy.
With the futures of multiple midfielders up in the air, West Ham may be best advised spending a long, hectic summer getting Magassa up to speed.
