Soungoutou Magassa’s future at West Ham United could yet be impacted by the big-spending plans of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
As Real Madrid join the race for Mateus Fernandes, as the vultures circle for Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen, speculation surrounding a midfielder who found game time hard to come by under Nuno Espirito Santo has understandably flown beneath the radar.
Magassa started only twice in the Premier League after being hauled off with West Ham United 3-0 down at Wolves on January 3rd.
What do you make of the ‘Mateus Fernandes to Real Madrid’ rumours? 🇵🇹 👑
He's good – but is he THAT good?
Yet, according to Sport BILD, long-time admirers Eintracht Frankfurt may be about to offer the Hammers the chance to recoup the initial £14 million they gave to Monaco in August 2025.
A Frankfurt side who might soon have a further £52 million to spend on reinforcements if Bayern Munich get their way.

Frankfurt are long-time admirers of West Ham United’s Soungoutou Magassa
According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have a ‘full verbal agreement’ with Frankfurt’s all-action left-back Nathaniel Brown.
While The Eagles value Brown at a cool 60 million euros, one suspects Bayern would not have made such progress with the player’s camp if they had no intention of meeting Frankfurt’s demands.
Of course, Frankfurt would need to sign a replacement if they do lose Brown – a candidate to start for Germany at the upcoming World Cup – to the Allianz Arena. But whoever arrives to take his spot, there would be plenty left over to test West Ham’s resolve regarding Magassa.
Interestingly, it was Adi Hutter who gave Magassa his big break at Monaco across the Channel.
Hutter was last week confirmed as Frankfurt’s head coach, replacing former Liverpool and Manchester City winger Albert Riera while returning to the club with whom he spent three seasons from 2018 and 2021.
What would YOU say to clubs hoping to sign Mohamadou Kante?
He's been linked with a £20m return to France… 💸 🇫🇷
Frankfurt reportedly tried to hijack West Ham’s pursuit of Magassa at the eleventh hour last summer too. Now with Hutter back at the Commerzbank Arena, with Brown potentially joining Bayern for a colossal sum, Frankfurt will soon have both the motive and the means to pick up where they left off ten months ago.
The Athletic claim that fellow Frenchman Mohamadou Kante is facing an uncertain future at West Ham, too. Unnamed Ligue 1 clubs are tracking the former Paris FC kid.
