It seems as though West Ham could face real competition from Newcastle if we are to sign Bologna ace Aaron Hickey in the summer transfer window.
Gazzetta dello Sport reckon that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe wants to bring the talented 19-year-old left-back to St James’ Park this summer.

And just last week, Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that the Hammers have actually made an official offer worth in excess of £21 million to sign Hickey.
David Moyes clearly wants to strengthen his left-back ranks considerably at the London Stadium before the start of next season.
Aaron Cresswell has regressed over the past year or so defensively. The 32-year-old is still a very potent attacking threat for us but it has become apparent that opposing teams are now targeting the West Ham man as the weak-link in our team.

Hickey would be sensational for the Hammers but it seems as though Newcastle could be a big problem for us this summer and not for the first time!
Newcastle to challenge West Ham for Hickey in the summer transfer window
With Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that the 19-year-old is a transfer target for the Magpies this summer, the Hammers really will have our work cut-out.
Hickey would be perfect for West Ham, so Newcastle’s interest in signing him will be a real inconvenience for us.
The teenager joined Bologna from Hearts in September 2020 for just £1.5 million (BBC).
He has been a huge hit in Italy, bagging five goals in 48 games (Transfermarkt).
All of those goals have come in 36 appearances this season. The 19-year-old has averaged 1.3 tackles and one interception per game this season. He’s made 27.4 passes per match on average and has recorded an impressive completion rate of 83% (Who Scored).

Hickey has absolutely everything needed to succeed in the Premier League. He’s fast, energetic, dynamic, is a very solid defender and possesses an exceptional delivery.
The young Scot was recently described as the new Gareth Bale (Daily Record) and he possesses similar attributes to Liverpool ace Andy Robertson and Arsenal star Kieran Tierney. He has also been described as an incredible player by BT Sport.
If Hickey continues to work hard and applies himself properly both on and off the pitch, he could become a truly top-class Premier League player.
Newcastle beating West Ham to the signing of the 19-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a bitter pill to swallow. He’s available for just £21 million according to Gazzetta dello Sport and that would be truly brilliant value for the Hammers.
The Magpies will obviously be able to offer him far more money. Let’s just hope that the chance to play European football appeals more than the cash does to Aaron Hickey.
