Newcastle United are now allegedly ready to make a big bid for reported West Ham United target Goncalo Ramos.
That’s according to a report from Jornal de Noticias (print edition August 16th, page 33) who claim that Newcastle are ready to submit an offer for the 21-year-old worth just over €40 million (£33 million).
It now seems like the Magpies are set to go full steam ahead for the striker though…
Signing a top-class forward will be crucially important for Newcastle and despite our recent capture of Gianluca Scamacca, the same can be said for West Ham.
David Moyes needs to bring more competition and cover in for Michail Antonio and Scammaca, with a long and physically punishing campaign lying ahead.
And it seems as though both clubs are in for the same player…
West Ham could lose out to Newcastle on Gonaclo Ramos
According to a report from Jornal de Noticias (print edition August 16th, page 33), the Toon are ready to make the first move and bid £33 million for the young Portuguese ace. As things stand, the Hammers have not made a bid for the striker.
The Benfica starlet is a real talent, and it’s little wonder why West Ham and Newcastle want to sign him.
Ramos bagged seven goals and two assists in 29 league games for Benfica last season (Transfermarkt). He played just 1607 minutes during those appearances though – an average of 55 minutes per game.
So that was a fairly healthy return.
The 21-year-old is very strong and possesses impressive pace. He clearly knows where the back of the net is as well.
Ramos has been described as a powerful striker by Portugoal.
There may be some concerns that he’s too inexperienced to make the move to the Premier League yet. If the Hammers are going to sign the next up and coming stars though, we need to take risks.
We’d absolutely love David Moyes to bring Goncalo Ramos to the London Stadium this summer.
However, it seems as though Newcastle are ready to put their necks on the line and make a £33 million bid for West Ham target Goncalo Ramos.
And missing out to the Toon in the race for the young Portuguese striker will be a big blow for the Hammers in my opinion.
