Newcastle United are keen to sign West Ham ace Manuel Lanzini on loan in the January transfer window according to a report from 90 Min.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe will be desperate to strengthen his ranks at St James’ Park in January.
The Magpies were recently taken over by the Saudi Public Investment Fund and now have the richest owners in world football.
With Newcastle languishing down in 19th spot in the table, however, and three points adrift of safety, attracting top-class players to Tyneside may well be a difficult task for Howe.
Especially if he is to sign anyone from the current top five in the Premier League!
Newcastle chasing West Ham ace Lanzini
90 Min reckon that the Toon are trying to sign the 28-year-old Argentinian ace on loan next month.
Manu joined the Hammers from Al Jazira on loan in the summer of 2015. He then made his move to East London a permanent one in 2016 for around £8 million (ESPN).
Lanzini hasn’t been the same player for the Hammers after suffering a serious injury in the summer of 2018. Having said that, the former River Plate star has shown glimpses of his old self over the past couple of months.
The attacking midfielder has forced his way back into the side at the London Stadium and has sent a strong message to David Moyes in recent weeks.
West Ham’s squad is incredibly stretched as it is. There is absolutely no way that we should be selling or loaning out any of our key players next month.
Moyes needs to get two or three through the door, and shouldn’t be allowing anyone aside from Andriy Yarmolenko to leave.
Newcastle would be getting a very good player if they do manage to sign Lanzini on loan. We just don’t think there is any chance of that happening though.
Moyes needs Lanzini to be at his absolute best between now and the end of the season. The South American has re-established himself as a key player at the London Stadium.
And West Ham would be absolutely crazy to let the 28-year-old join Newcastle on loan in the January transfer window.
