New twist in West Ham plan to sign Jesse Lingard after Trent Alexander-Arnold injury?

There could be another twist in West Ham United’s attempts to sign Jesse Lingard.

Teammates next season? Hammers star, Lingard and Arnautovic spotted together

David Moyes is desperate to get Lingard signed permanently for West Ham following his scintillating spell on loan from Man United.

Speculation has been rife as to whether Man United will sell or try to get Lingard to sign a new deal.

There has even been talk the Red Devils could try and use Lingard as a makeweight in deals with other clubs.

Lingard England snub meant West Ham planned to get deal done earlier than expected

Despite having more goal involvements for West Ham than any player in the Premier League except Harry Kane since February, Lingard missed out on making England’s Euro squad this week.

West Ham insiders Claret and Hugh said that snub had a silver lining for Moyes with talks to begin earlier than anticipated over a deal to sign the 28-year-old from Man United.

“We were told by one of our insiders; “It’s very much in Jesse’s hands with only a year left on his deal,” Claret and Hugh reported.

“He loved his time at the club and it’s been made clear to him the club want him at the London Stadium – now the talking will have to start!”

New twist in West Ham’s plans to get Lingard signed after TAA injury?

But there could be a fresh twist which will put West Ham’s hopes on hold.

That’s after it emerged Lingard could be first in line to replace injured Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold in the Euros squad.

Gareth Southgate had been criticised by fans and pundits for selecting four right-backs in his squad and snubbing West Ham’s form player Lingard.

But TAA hobbled off with what looks a serious injury in the friendly win over Austria last night – a game in which Lingard started and registered an assist.

Hammers talks could be pushed back if Lingard is next in line for England

With the Euros just over a week away, Lingard could get the call after Southgate admitted it does not look good for TAA (Sky Sports).

And that could impact West Ham’s plans to get the midfield ace signed early.

If he then shines at the Euros that could present a problem for West Ham too.

Lingard was spotted in good spirits chatting with fellow West Ham star Declan Rice and former Hammers striker Marko Arnautovic before the game.

Moyes has admitted he may consider re-signing Arnautovic if he performs well at the Euros for Austria.
