West Ham United stars Declan Rice and Jesse Lingard have been spotted with Marko Arnautovic tonight.
West Ham stars Rice and Lingard are starting for England in their Euro warm-up game against Austria.
And they were seen chatting and joking with former West Ham striker and current David Moyes target Arnautovic on the pitch at the Riverside.
The Austrian was a revelation when Moyes converted him to a striker during his first spell at West Ham.
But the star left the Hammers on a sour note, demanding a big money move to China just months after signing a bumper new deal in east London.
Moyes has admitted he will consider re-signing Arnie
Moyes admitted he could consider re-signing Arnautovic when asked about his reported interest a couple of weeks ago.
And the Scot revealed he would be getting a closer look at him over the summer as he played games for his country back in Europe.
“Marko was great for me,” Moyes told reporters ahead of the recent game at Brighton.
“I loved having him at the club because I liked the challenge of trying to manage him.
“He’s someone who maybe wasn’t easy at times but I actually quite enjoyed it. I would never rule Marko out but I’m trying to move forward. I’m trying to build towards a new team, a new West Ham.
Injury denies Hammers boss chance to get close look at former striker who looked in good shape when chatting with West Ham duo Rice and Lingard
“I’m trying not to go back if I can help it. It’s not to say that I would never go there, I would do of course. We might get a chance to see how Marko plays in the Euros. I hope I do because I really like him.”
Moyes looked set for the perfect opportunity to see his former talisman up close when England faced Austria.
But Arnie is sitting the game out through injury.
The former favourite looked in great shape, though, as Sky Sports cameras spotted him sharing a joke with Lingard and his former West Ham teammate Rice – who previously referred to Arnautovic as a ‘big brother’ figure to him (whufc.com).
West Ham teammates next season?
Perhaps the trio were chatting about being teammates at West Ham next season?
That would require West Ham sorting a deal out with Manchester United to seal a permanent move for Lingard.
And then negotiating a return for Arnie who is on a reported salary in excess of £250k per week in China with a year to run on his deal.
