New Emile Smith-Rowe claim emerges as West Ham eye up blockbuster summer transfer for Arsenal star

West Ham United could try to sign Arsenal ace Emile Smith-Rowe in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal play-maker Emile Smith-Rowe seems to be facing an uncertain future at the Emirates, and West Ham could be ready to give him a real chance to prove himself at the very highest level.

Hammers boss David Moyes actually tried to bring the 23-year-old Gunners ace to the London Stadium back in the summer of 2023, but was unsuccessful in the end.

And now, according to football journalist Rudy Galetti, West Ham could make another attempt to sign the three-capped England international.

It is suggested that Smith-Rowe’s future at Arsenal is very much up in the air at the moment, and he could well fall even further down the pecking order under Arteta next season.

Emile Smith-Rowe claim emerges as West Ham eye up summer transfer

The 23-year-old Gunner is firmly in the sights of the Hammers, and it is suggested that we’ve already made some enquiries for him ahead of the summer transfer window.

I actually rate Smith-Rowe very highly indeed. Arsenal boss Arteta absolutely raved about Smith-Rowe only last month, labelling him as a player who is ‘beautiful to watch’ (Arsenal.com).

He really is so entertaining to watch when he’s in full flow, but his injury record is definitely a very big concern.

Smith-Rowe has missed a massive 77 games through injury in just over five years since 2018 (Transfermarkt). He is clearly not robust enough to be relied on for 30+ Premier League games per season.

The Arsenal star’s talent is undeniable. He possesses incredible skill, impeccable technique and a really impressive turn of pace.

However, I just don’t think West Ham should be risking a move to sign Emile Smith-Rowe from Arsenal this summer. There are more physically robust players out there who we should be targeting in my opinion, like Steven Bergwijn or Jack Clarke for example.
