Chelsea’s new transfer priority for a left-back duo is a big blow to David Moyes’s West Ham plans if reports are to be believed ahead of the January window.
West Ham fans have long felt David Moyes needs to sign a new left-back regardless of the resurgence of Aaron Cresswell.
With Cresswell spending a prolonged spell out of the Hammers squad with a back injury – and Arthur Masuaku once again proving he is no defender – West Ham have been left somewhat exposed in that position.
Chelsea are also reportedly on the hunt now after Ben Chilwell was ruled out for the season with the Blues having decided he needs surgery on an ACL injury.
West Ham fans know all about that having lost Angelo Ogbonna until next year for the same reason.
Now Chelsea are looking to make a left-back signing and their reported targets could be a big blow to West Ham.
Having fallen out with Rafa Benitez, Hammers fans felt he would be ideal to seriously strengthen West Ham’s options given the Frenchman can play left-back and left wingback.
Some West Ham fans will also remember that Moyes was heavily linked with a move for Ajax’s Argentina international Nicolas Tagliafico late in the summer window.
The move never materialised.
Well guess what West Ham fans? Chelsea are interested in Tagliafico too according to a host of sources including The Daily Mail.
One would think Thomas Tuchel won’t move for both Digne and Tagliafico.
So West Ham could of course have the chance to sign one of them.
But a straight fight between the Hammers and Chelsea for a player is unlikely to end well for Moyes.
