Raum has allegedly been a transfer target for West Ham boss David Moyes all summer long.

In fact, just last week it was claimed by The Times that the Hammers were in talks to sign Germany international.

West Ham manager David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his left-back ranks at the London Stadium before the start of the new season.

And Raum would have been absolutely perfect for us. It seems as though Moyes needs to pursue alternatives targets now though…

Fabrizio Romano David Raum update is a hammer blow for West Ham

It has been claimed by Romano that the Hammers are set to miss out on the talented left-back in the summer transfer window.

The Italian journalist took to Twitter last night and suggested that RB Leipzig have a ‘full agreement’ in place to sign the Hoffenheim star:

What a stunning signing David Raum would have been for the Hammers, so missing out on his signature will be a massive blow for us.

The nine-capped Germany international has everything needed to succeed in the Premier League.

He’s powerful, has bags of pace and is a real gritty, tenacious competitor. Football Talent Scoutdescribe Raum as a ‘superb’ left-back. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga’s official website have labelled Raum as an ‘outstanding’ full-back.

He’s apparently available for around £33 million this summer (The Times).

The kind of money for the 24-year-old seems like very good value.

Raum was in absolutely exceptional form for Hoffenheim last season.

He bagged three goals and 13 assists in 32 Bundesliga games (Transfermarkt). Not bad for a left-back eh!

The German is powerfully built and possesses impressive pace.

He would have been a huge upgrade on Aaron Cresswell at the London Stadium.

The Fabrizio Romano update on David Raum is the final nail in the coffin for West Ham though. Missing out on the German is a huge shame.
