West Ham United are allegedly in talks to sign brilliant Hoffenheim defender David Raum in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from The Times who claim that Hammers boss David Moyes is in the market for a long-term successor to Aaron Cresswell and would need to pay around £33 million to sign Raum.

Links with the 24-year-old Hoffenheim left-back go way back to May.

And we think the nine-capped Germany international would be an exceptional addition for West Ham in the summer transfer window.

Moyes desperately needs to upgrade on Cresswell after his clear and obvious regression during the second half of last season.

And Raum would certainly represent a big jump up in quality on the 32-year-old Hammers left-back…

West Ham in talks to sign David Raum

The Times reckon that the Hammers are in discussions with Hoffenheim about bringing the German to the London Stadium this summer.

The Bundesliga outfit allegedly want around £33 million for Raum.

Whether the West Ham owners are prepared to pay that kind of money for the 24-year-old remains to be seen. They absolutely should do though – he’s that good.

What a stunning signing David Raum would be for whichever club wins the race for his signature.

The nine-capped Germany international has everything needed to succeed in the Premier League.

He’s powerful, has bags of pace and is a real gritty, tenacious competitor. Football Talent Scout describe Raum as a ‘superb’ left-back. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga’s official website have labelled Raum as an ‘outstanding’ full-back.

£33 million for the 24-year-old seems like very good value.

Raum was in absolutely exceptional form for Hoffenheim last season.

He bagged three goals and 13 assists in 32 Bundesliga games (Transfermarkt). Not bad for a left-back eh!

The German is powerfully built and possesses impressive pace.

At 24, Raum is not even in the prime of his career. He seems at the ideal stage to make the jump up from the Bundesliga to the Premier League.

And if West Ham sign David Raum this summer, we will be in great shape heading into the new season.
