Matheus Pereira reportedly has no role to play at West Brom, £30m asking price too steep for West Ham

West Ham target Matheus Pereira faces a bleak future at West Brom according to a report from The Athletic.

New Baggies boss Valerien Ismael allegedly doesn’t have a position to fit the Brazilian into in his 3-4-3 formation.

There is a big problem for the Hammers, however.

West Brom value the 25-year-old at around £30 million (The Athletic).

Pereira would be a great signing for West Ham. We have to admit that £30 million is a serious amount of money to pay for someone who has only played one season in the Premier League, however.

Perhaps £20 million would be a fairer price. The Baggies have every right to dig their heels in and keep him at the Hawthorns, however. He is under contract with West Brom until the summer of 2024 after all.

West Ham deal to sign Pereira looks tricky

The Athletic claims that the talented South American has no future at the Hawthorns under Ismael.

The big sticking point is the Baggies’ reported £30 million valuation of the play-maker, however.

At a push, West Brom allegedly could lower their demands to £25 million. But even that would likely be too steep for the Hammers.

In all fairness, it will be more important for David Moyes to get deals for a centre-forward and a centre-back over the line before the transfer window slams shut.

This could be a big week ahead for the Scot and West Ham.

And as things stand, it seems like it will be very difficult for the East London outfit to get a deal done for Matheus Pereira.
