West Ham United are indeed in talks to sign talented centre-back Nayef Aguerd according to Rennes manager Bruno Genesio.
L’Equipe reported earlier this week that the Hammers are closing in on a deal to sign the 26-year-old defender from Rennes.

It is suggested that the Morocco international is close to joining West Ham for around £34 million (L’Équipe).
The longer that this one goes on without any official confirmation from either side though, the more worried the Hammers fans are becoming.

L’Equipe have actually suggested that despite the fact that a deal is close, there is still no actual agreement between West Ham and Rennes regarding the transfer fee.
So something that the 26-year-old’s manager has just said will come as some kind of comfort…
West Ham in advanced talks to sign Nayef Aguerd
The Rennes ace will surely be a Hammers player before the start of next season.
We just have to keep our fingers crossed that David Sullivan doest get up to his old tricks when it comes to negotiating.
And Aguerd’s current manager Bruno Genesio admitted that the centre-back is currently in advanced negotiations ahead of a proposed move to West Ham, when speaking to RMC Sport:

“It is true that there are advanced discussions concerning Nayef, that he expressed the desire to live another adventure. In these moments, it is always difficult to retain a player. There is a good chance that Nayef will no longer be at Rennes next year.”
Whatever happens, West Ham just need to get this one done.
The 26-year-old is a truly elite centre-back and will help us reach a new level entirely, what with his ability when in possession of the football.
Whether we pay £20 million or £34 million, it doesn’t really matter. The Hammers just need to get the deal to sign the Moroccan over the line as soon as possible.
At least we now know for a fact that West Ham are in advanced talks to sign Aguerd.
