A West Ham United midfielder has been offered an escape route from the club in the January transfer window.

One West Ham midfielder could be set for a January transfer window exit from the London Stadium it seems.

Hammers boss David Moyes has a lot of work to do this winter, with a few new signings needed, but the Scot needs to clear out some of the deadwood as well.

No West Ham player encapsulates the meaning of ‘deadwood’ more than Conor Coventry, as harsh as that may sound.

The 23-year-old midfielder will be out of contract at the end of the season, and Moyes wants to get rid of him this month.

Now it seems like Coventry could be set for a move south of the river this winter…

London club offer midfielder West Ham escape route in the January window

According to sports journalist Richard Cawley, Coventry’s time at the London Stadium could soon be over.

He suggested that League One Charlton Athletic have actually already offered a deal to the 23-year-old Hammer:

It’s about time that the midfielder left the Hammers – has clearly isn’t good enough to be playing Premier League football.

The 23-year-old has made just 10 appearances for the Hammers (Transfermarkt), and he has been involved with the first-team for five-and-a-half years now!

Coventry is taking up a squad place and a wage at the London Stadium whilst contributing absolutely nothing – a non-existent input if you will.

He hasn’t been given a single minute of action this season, and it’s clear to see that he isn’t even a fringe player at the club anymore.

If the midfielder leaves West Ham in the January transfer window, as is expected, it will be the best outcome for all parties concerned.
