Leeds United are allegedly in talks to sign Sonny Perkins after his recent acrimonious exit from West Ham United.

That’s according to a report from The Daily Mail who claim that the talented teenager could join Leeds this summer, although Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur want to sign him as well.

Leeds were first linked with a move to sign Perkins at the start of this month.

At first glance, the Hammers fans may be very angry at the prospect of losing the 18-year-old to a Premier League rival.

West Ham certainly weren’t happy when Perkins left, after having refused a new contract offer from the club, and the official club statement after the 18-year-old left the London Stadium made that very clear.

Who knows what Perkins will go on to do. And where he will end up playing.

For now though, it seems as though he could be Leeds bound…

Leeds in talks to sign Perkins

According to a report from The Daily Mail, Leeds are in talks to sign the 18-year-old starlet.

Perkins burst onto the scene at the London Stadium this season just gone when he was only 17.

The Hackney-born ace can actually play anywhere along the front-line and possesses exceptional technique. When he grows in stature and falls out, he could become a truly brilliant forward in the Premier League.

That’s the thing though.

There is actually no way of knowing whether Perkins will actually make it in the Premier League or not.

It is very rare for West Ham to lose young players and for them to go on and actually be a hit in the Premier League. It’s also worth remembering that Perkins was a midfielder before switching to a forward midway through the season.

He only has two or three months of sustained form behind him.

Rising East recently described the attacker as a ‘remarkable’ young talent. And he did look very bright for the under-23’s in all fairness to him.

With Leeds allegedly in talks to sign Sonny Perkins, the West Ham fans might be concerned.

However, there is no guarantee that he will go on to forge a Premier League career for himself at Elland Road.
