A journalist has made a huge claim about the imminent West Ham signing of Kalvin Phillips as the “race is won” for the Man City flop.
West Ham will sign Manchester City outcast Kalvin Phillips early next week after fighting off a host of other clubs.
That’s according to Mirror journalist James Nursey in an update overnight.
The Hammers have been battling the likes of Newcastle, Crystal Palace and a host of European clubs to sign Phillips on loan in the January transfer window.

Journalist makes huge Phillips claim
With his place in the England squad for this summer’s Euros very much at risk, Phillips is looking to move and West Ham boss David Moyes has been pushing to bring him to London – as reported by a host of sources including Sky Sports and talkSPORT.
We reported this week that CBS journalist Ben Jacobs claimed West Ham were the ‘ones to watch’ when it comes to landing Man City flop Phillips.
And Hammers News sources involved in the negotiations revealed West Ham’s chances were being helped by the fact Phillips has a ‘soft spot’ for Hammers boss Moyes.
Now a journalist has made a huge claim about the imminent West Ham signing of Man City’s Phillips as the “race is won”.

Breakthrough made claims report
In an update overnight, Nursey states the breakthrough has been made. And Phillips will become a West Ham player in the coming days.
“West Ham are set to win the race for Kalvin Phillips in a loan switch next week to deal Newcastle a big blow,” Nursey reports.
“Hammers boss David Moyes is offering the ace a chance to play much more after agreeing to meet his £130,000-a-week City salary. West Ham will also pay bonuses to Phillips to ensure he gets a pay rise after failing to establish himself at City since a £42million move from Leeds in 2022.
“The deal is only an initial loan until the end of the season but could be reviewed in the summer when Phillips will have four years left on his contract.”
On the face of it a West Ham move for another central midfielder seems like a very low priority.
But we analysed how Phillips might fit into Moyes side and the move could prove to be a masterstroke.
Chiefly because it could fully unlock Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus.
