West Ham are allegedly in pole position to sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to football journalist Peter O’Rourke who has told Give Me Sport that the Hammers have a ‘very good chance’ of signing the 29-year-old Manchester United attacker in the summer.

Jesse Lingard spent the second half of last season on loan at the London Stadium from Man United and he was a huge hit with West Ham.

The 32-capped England international bagged nine goals and four assists in just 16 Premier League games for the Hammers (Transfermarkt).

However, Lingard chose to return to Old Trafford in the summer. That decision now looks like a baffling one. He has hardly played for either Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Ralf Rangnick. Perhaps he was promised things that juts haven’t happened, who knows?

One thing’s for sure though, Jesse will be off in the summer. And it seems as though he could be set for a return to the Hammers…

West Ham in good position to sign Lingard

The Hammers fans would love to see the 29-year-old strutting his stuff back at the London Stadium.

He needs that move as well. He’s just too good not to be playing and not enjoying his football.

Football journalist Peter O’Rourke has told Give Me Sport that West Ham could be in the box seat to sign Jesse in the summer transfer window:

“The thing that gives West Ham a really good chance of getting this deal done is what happened previously with Lingard. He had a great spell on loan there last season. He knows David Moyes, he knows the club and he knows the players as well.”

David Moyes absolutely loved having Jesse Lingard at West Ham last season. He played such an integral role for us.

The Scot labelled him as an ‘incredible’ player (Claret and Hugh). And it has been clear to see that we have really missed Lingard this season.

He offered us real pace, drive and incisiveness on the counter attack last season and sometimes we have looked rather laboured when trying to break at pace this term.

Bringing Jesse back to the London Stadium is surely an absolute no-brainer for West Ham in the summer. The same can be said for the 29-year-old. There is not another club in England where he will be adored and hero worshipped as much as he will be with the Hammers.

If it doesn’t happen as soon as his contract expires, however, we’ve just got to move on to other targets asap. West Ham and Moyes absolutely cannot afford to waste an entire transfer window chasing Lingard again.
