The agent acting on behalf of exciting striker Jonathan David speaks out on his client’s future after West Ham were linked with a January move for the Lille star.
Reports have claimed West Ham have registered an interest in signing Canadian forward David as manager David Moyes searches for the spark to reignite West Ham’s season.
Word that the Hammers are interested in David has gone down well with Hammers fans.
It is the worst kept secret in football that Moyes wants to sign a new forward next month.
Well 21-year-old striker David is said to be a serious target for West Ham. And the player reportedly likes the idea of joining West Ham from Lille in the January transfer window according to a report from Calcio Mercato.
The Canadian attacker will be available for around £30 million next month (The Liverpool Echo).
Described by The Scouting App as a brilliant attacker with bundles of potential, the Lille ace has the kind of ability that would get the fans up off their seats.
David has already scored 18 goals in 24 games for his country and has bagged 14 goals in 25 matches for Lille so far this season (Transfermarkt).
The 21-year-old has a fine record of 64 goals and 20 assists in 156 career games for Lille and Gent combined (Transfermarkt). He really is an unbelievable talent.
But West Ham fans should not get too excited about his arrival at the London Stadium just yet.
That’s if comments from his agent Nick Mavromaras are anything to go by.
Speaking to Radio Canada, Mavromaras said David will most likely stay at Lille until next summer before moving on.

And while the Premier League is one of his preferred destinations, Mavromaras suggested David has bigger clubs than West Ham in mind when he does leave the Ligue 1 club.
“For us, the goal is to finish the season with Lille, but this will be his last season there for several reasons,” Mavromaras told Radio Canada.
“I think the Premier League is a great option for him. I think he likes Spain a lot too… These two leagues are the main priorities for him, but nothing is being ruled out. You never know with Paris Saint-Germain or the big Italian clubs.
“It’s normal that all these big clubs are interested in the top scorer in Ligue 1, but I can tell you that, today, there’s no official offer.
“I can’t say the price today. It’s down to Lille. But in the end, that’s football. Jonathan isn’t going to show it, but he knows he is one of the best young forwards in the world.
“There’s also Erling Haaland who could cost between €75m and €100m… If you want to be part of that list, you have to learn to manage the pressure.”
