Jesse Lingard reportedly set for West Ham return as David Moyes makes early move

Jesse Lingard is set for a return to West Ham United on a free transfer when his contract officially expires with Manchester United.

That’s according to a report from The Daily Mail who claim that the Hammers have moved out in front in the race to sign Jesse by making an early move to acquire his signature.

The 29-year-old spent a wonderfully successful four-month loan spell at the London Stadium last season.

He returned to Manchester United last summer, however, with the hope of playing regular football for his boyhood club.

That obviously didn’t happen and Lingard was clearly sold promises that were not kept by his club. He will now walk away from Old Trafford as a free agent in just a couple of week’s time.

And it seems as though a Hammers return could well be on the cards…

Jesse Lingard set for West Ham return

The Daily Mail claim that the Hammers are leading the race to sign the England international.

David Moyes has allegedly made an early move to sign Lingard to impress upon him just how much he wants him back in East London.

The Scot was a massive fan of Lingard and he still is. The Scot labelled him as an ‘incredible’ player last season (Claret and Hugh).

He was very popular amongst the West Ham players as well. Mark Noble spoke to the Daily Mail in the summer and labelled Lingard as ‘phenomenal’.

Lingard bagged nine goals and four assists in 16 Premier League games for the Hammers last season.

The 32-capped England international was a real game-changer for West Ham and was a key figure in our counter-attacking football.

The Manchester United ace would be a really good signing for the Hammers on a free in the summer transfer window.

He would be a hugely popular signing at the London Stadium amongst the fans and the players.

And it seems as though Jesse Lingard could be set for a West Ham return if the Daily Mail have their information spot on.
