West Ham United could target a bargain double deal for Leeds duo Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to football journalist Peter O’Rourke who told Give Me Sport that the Hammers could be competing with some seriously big clubs for the Leeds players’ signatures this summer.
The upcoming summer transfer window will be a hugely important one for West Ham manager David Moyes and the club in general.
The Scot needs to bring in some top-class signings if we are to challenge for major honours on all fronts next season.
We would love to see the England and Brazil internationals at West Ham. And it seems as though it could be possible if the Whites get relegated this season…
West Ham eyeing big summer window with double Leeds swoop on the cards
If the Whites get relegated from the Premier League this season, two of their key players – Phillips and Raphinha, could be available for bargain £30 million fees (The Daily Mail).
That would represent truly incredible value for whichever club wins the race for their signatures. And it’s a very real prospect.
Leeds need to better Burnley’s result tomorrow to avoid relegation down to the Championship.
And Peter O’Rourke told Give Me Sport that it is certainly possible that West Ham will be able to sign Phillips and Raphinha in the summer window:
“They could be two relative bargains this summer if they do have relegation release clauses in their contracts at Leeds. Obviously, you’re going to face a lot of competition for the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, as we know, with Barcelona wanting Raphinha and the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle and Manchester United all being linked with Kalvin Phillips as well. I think West Ham have got to be in there competing with these other clubs when you get players like this possibly available for decent fees.”
We think that West Ham have a genuine chance of signing both players this summer, if Leeds do in fact get relegated.
They are the kind of players who could take West Ham to an entirely new level.
And if West Ham do sign the Leeds duo in the summer window, we could be in for a seriously exciting campaign next season.
