Jack Collison says West Ham boss David Moyes has just missed out on a perfect striker signing as Valentin Castellanos seals move.

It has been well documented that David Moyes is trying to sign a striker.

Indeed the West Ham boss has been searching for the right forward for the last 18 months – stretching back three transfer windows.

West Ham have been linked with a host of strikers with Armando Broja and Gianluca Scamacca the prime targets.

But noises from Thomas Tuchel this week suggest he has no intention of letting Broja leave Chelsea.

And a West Ham insider claims Moyes has changed his mind on Scamacca.

In the meantime another reported West Ham target Valentin Castellanos has sealed a move from New York City to Girona.

A couple of months ago Marca and a host of other outlets claimed the Hammers wanted the 23-year-old Argentine striker.

Now former Hammers favourite Collison – a coach in MLS with Atlanta – says West Ham boss Moyes has missed out on a perfect striker signing as Castellanos seals a move to La Liga.

“Think he would have been a great fit for West Ham,” Collison said on Twitter.

“Phenomenal player.”

Collison’s frustration is shared by West Ham fans.

And an agitated Moyes is getting fed up with his fruitless transfer efforts too.

Anyone in any doubt that West Ham need a new striker need only watch Michail Antonio toil up front.

The forward is not a natural finisher and has been in horrendous form in 2022.

Antonio has looked well off it in pre-season, sparking anger among fans that the striker situation is still not resolved just two weeks from the start of the new campaign.

It is ludicrous that West Ham have only had one senior striker for 18 months.

And if Collison is proved right about Castellanos then the Hammers could be filled with regret.
